Tasman-Jones joins the Volts contract list10 Jul 2018
Tasman-Jones has been offered his first contract with the Otago Volts, after being part of the extended squad for the past three seasons. Josh has played just two first class games for the Volts in the past three seasons but has been heavily involved in the Otago A program as team captain. He is also an integral part of the Albion cricket club in Dunedin and was a key member of the team that competed at the National Club Champs in April this year. Tasman-Jones is a top order batsman who has shown in his limited opportunities that he has the ability to contribute at first class level. He is an extremely hard working player and a genuine leader who will add significantly to the team environment.
His expertise with the bat will bring some depth to our top order and he also provides an option with the ball. Anton Roux, Assistant Coach says, “It’s great to be able to provide an opportunity for Josh to be fully immersed in the Volts environment. He fully deserves this opportunity and I know that it means a lot to him to represent the Volts. He is a great young man and will add significant value to the group across many areas". Tasman-Jones has been training with the team during the off season and is excited to join the Volts family this season, saying; "it's an honour to get the opportunity to represent the Volts on a more permanent basis. A lot of hard work and sacrifice has gone into getting this opportunity which has been special to reflect up on with friends and family over the last few days. Looking ahead I'll continue to do what I've always done and do everything in my power to be prepared and ready to go when I'm called upon by Rob and Anton to perform a role for the team. It's a great place to live and play our cricket, I can't wait to rip into it and take on every challenge and opportunity we're presented with in the coming season."
The players, coaches and support staff are looking forward to getting underway after months of planning for the season ahead.
