University of Otago Oval to host Australia and South Africa

International Summer Schedule Released

07 Jun 2019

With the Cricket World Cup in full swing, we are excited to announce our International schedule for Dunedin next summer. We look forward to hosting two T20 matches; BLACKCAPS v Australia (24 March, 2020) and the WHITEFERNS v South Africa (13 February, 2020) at the University of Otago Oval. DVML continue to do a fantastic job of preparing our ground for both domestic and international cricket. This was reiterated at the 2018-19 NZC Awards where they were awarded 'Best Domestic Short Form Pitch’, which just shows how much work they put in.

Otago Cricket CEO Mike Coggan said: “It’s really exciting to be awarded two T20 Internationals this summer. Cricket is changing and evolving very quickly with so much more interest in the shorter version of the game.  It will be fantastic to showcase female cricket at a time when we are seeing much greater female support and participation. It’s terrific that Suzie Bates and Katey Martin might get to wear the silver fern on their home ground.”

NZC CEO David White said: “The University of Otago Oval is a wonderful example of the boutique cricket ground philosophy that Kiwi fans have so enthusiastically embraced over the past decade or so. We’re delighted to see the BLACKCAPS and the WHITE FERNS returning to the deep south this summer.”

Otago Cricket memberships will go on sale in September, keep a look out to make sure you don’t miss being part of these fantastic events.
