Otago Sparks Head Coach Craig Cumming has signed a two-year extension with Otago Cricket as he continues to deliver successful results for the Sparks team.

In the last three years, Cumming has guided the Sparks to two Hallyburton Johnstone Shield titles, as well as see key local players in Eden Carson and Polly Inglis earn New Zealand WHITE FERN contracts.

General Manager of Performance Steve Martin is pleased to have Cumming remaining at the helm for another two seasons.

“Craig is an accomplished coach who has not only led the team to titles but has been instrumental in the development of a number of players who have gone on to national honours” Martin said.

Cumming is eager to help grow players and the game here in Otago.

“I am excited to have confirmed another two years with a group that has inspired me to become a full-time coach. I am looking forward to working with the players and continue their growth on and off the field” Cumming added.

The Otago Sparks begin their lead into the season with warm up games against Timaru Boys High School in Timaru on Labour weekend.

The team play their first Hallyburton Johnstone Shield games against Canterbury in Rangiora on the 16th and 17th November.
