2020/21 Super Smash Schedule Announced

Exciting news for cricket this morning, with Male & Female Super Smash schedules being announced by New Zealand Cricket for the upcoming season.

For fans of both the Volts & Sparks, the fixture release brings double the amount of joy as usual, with all Super Smash fixtures this season being double headers. Otago will host five home games, kicking the tournament off with back to back games at Molyneux Park in Alexandra on the 28th & 29th of December. The remainder of the games will be played at Dunedin, early in 2021.

Volts' Captain, Jacob Duffy expressed that the double-headers will be awesome exposure for the women's game.

"We really enjoyed the double-headers with the Sparks, the girls played some great cricket, and it's awesome to see them get the exposure on the big stage. As well as that, the only thing better than one Otago win in a day, is two!" said Duffy.

Jacob Duffy of the Volts' explained that the prospect of opening the 2020/21 Super Smash season Alexandra over the holiday period is something very exciting for the group.

"It's great to see our first two fixtures in Alexandra this season, the lads went 2-0 there last year and would love to repeat that to start the season" said Duffy.

"We've had some of our best crowds in Alexandra, which I know our team thrives off. Also, there's no place better to be over the New Years period than Central Otago!"

SBS Bank Otago Spark (and Queenstown local) Bella James shared the same sentiment.

"Starting the season in Alexandra with a double header will be an awesome way to kick off the tournament. With a bit of luck we can put a good performance on infront of family and friends" said James.

Also exciting for cricket fans, is the news that Spark Sport will be covering both International and Domestic cricket fixtures. This means fans will be able to stream almost every cricket game this summer. For the first time in years, selected Super Smash games will also be broadcast on free-to-air Television (TV1 and/or Duke) which is awesome news for the exposure of both our summer game, and our players.
